Dear Customer,

Between all the media attention on Green Home's biodegradable revolution, supplying great events like the Absa Cape Epic, Pick n Pay Argus Cycle Tour and expanding our product range, April has been a jam-packed month for us.

It feels great knowing that we are going from strength to strength and that so many people out there are becoming aware of the importance of using biodegradable alternatives!

We hope you enjoy this month's newsletter and as always, we encourage you to post any comments or information on our blog, Green Flavour.

Green Home in the media

FM

The last month has been a particularly inspiring one in terms of all the media attention that Green Home and our biodegradable products have been getting.

The fact that articles on Green Home appeared in publications such as Financial Mail and the Weekend Argus clearly shows that the concept of biodegradable alternatives to petroleum-based plastic packaging is moving from the margins to the mainstream!

Drowning in a an ocean of plastic

plastic ocean

Green Home was shocked to discover countless videos and articles on Plastic Island or "The Trash Vortex". According to the LA Times: Plastic debris that gets washed off land and dumped at sea "gets trapped for decades in swirling waters called gyres, but known informally as garbage patches."

According to Thomas Morton of VBSTV "The area that is polluted is estimated as double the size of Texas. It's a whole region of the ocean that is just totally infested with just little broken up bits of plastic. The problem with plastic is that it doesn't biodegrade, it photodegrades. A process by which it is broken down by sunlight into smaller pieces. But they still remain as plastics."

Cape Epic goes biodegradable

At the end of last month, Green Home supplied the Absa Cape Epic with biodegradable, disposable containers for cyclists on the go.
epic
Thanks to the organisers of the Cape Epic and their commitment to a sustainable ethos. This year the participants left behind piles of compostable material, available to compost and use in local food gardens..

Well done to all the cyclists and to the organisers for setting such a great example for future green events in South Africa.
