The true cost of Plastic Bottle’s, Italy's Plastic Bag Ban and more...
  • More than 90 percent of the environmental impact from disposable plastic bottles happens before it is even opened, as this article states.

  • As of January 1st 2011, Italy became the first European Nation to ban the plastic bag. It is estimated that the ban will reduce Italy's carbon emissions by 180 million tons a year. Read the full story from Time News Feed, here.
  • ‘Dr Seuss’ on Copenhagen
The outcomes of the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference were disappointing and offered virtually nothing in the way of solutions to the Climate Crisis. What’s the next best thing to do in a crisis? Well laugh obviously! We recently stumbled across this hilarious 'Dr Seuss' style podcast from the BBC’s The Now Show. While it may be just over a year old, it is every bit as relevant to the fact that little is being done by World leaders to address the Global Climate Crisis. Take a listen here.
    A Beginners Guide to Composting:
Are you one of the many people who think that composting requires a lot of time, effort, resources and space? Well think again. Actually home composting can be an incredibly simple and rewarding process that not only produces healthy and nutritious soil, but also benefits society as a whole. Composting of organic waste significantly reduces the amount of waste that ends up in landfill, which consequently reduces pollution of soil and groundwater from leachate, and the production of the greenhouse gas methane (an aerated compost heap will not produce methane.)

Green Tip: Switch to a Compost Loo!
If you’re serious about living a cleaner, greener lifestyle, and minimising your environmental impact then the compost toilet is for you. Not only will you completely eliminate precious water usage whilst dealing with your own waste in the most environmentally responsible way, but you’ll have plenty of nutrient rich compost as a result! It’s so simple and will fit comfortably in your bathroom. Clearly there is no reason NOT to switch to a compost loo!
Build your own from the Humanure Handbook or order in Cape Town from Regreening the Desert.
